MT. PLEASANT, Mich. (WJBK) – Two people were fatally shot on campus at Central Michigan University Friday morning, according to authorities. Police are still on the lookout for the suspect.
Central Michigan University said in a statement the fatal shooting happened at Campbell Hall, a residence hall on the west campus. CMU says the victims are not students, and that police believe the shooting started with a domestic situation. No other details have been given at this time. No other injuries were reported.
An alert of possible shots fired on campus was sent to students just after 9 a.m., according to the university newspaper and students. Around 10:15 a.m., MSP confirmed the two deaths.
CMU identifies him as James Eric Davis, Jr. He’s 19 years old, 5’10”, 135 lbs. He was wearing mustard yellow jeans and a blue hoodie. If you see him, consider him armed and dangerous and call 911 immediately.
Authorities haven’t yet said if Davis is a student, nor have they described the situation that led up to the shooting. All of CMU is locked down and the city of Mount Pleasant said all city buildings and schools are also locked down. If you see something suspicious in the area, you’re urged to call 911 immediately.

This is the last day of classes before spring break.
CMU says anyone coming to pick up students for break should stay off campus until further notice. CMU asks you go to the Comfort Inn, 2424 S. Mission St, and says that university staff will be on site to support the families.
Central Michigan is in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, about 155 miles northwest of Detroit. More than 20,000 students are at the Mt. Pleasant campus.
