Recently, one of my new facebook friends from China posted interesting pictures that show how his manufacturing facility is making our beloved Ethiopian Coffee Sets. Although I wished these products were made in Ethiopia, I also thought there is a lot we can learn from the Chinese way of manufacturing our products!
You may own some authentic “Queen of Sheba” coffee sets or seen those that are being imported at local grocery stores. The once that are imported are currently being manufactured in a Southern China City which is becoming a global mass market for making many types of products. It is also the hottest place for tiny startups to incubate quickly and become market ready inexpensively. More details about this topic will follow on another post …
For now, let’s see if we can learn a thing or two from this Chinese manufacturer that is making our traditional coffee pot also know as Jebena, which is used to brew coffee during Ethiopian Coffee Ceremonies. Check out the videos below as a Sales Manager at New Century Ceramics explains the production process at his manufacturing facility in China.
More importantly, please let’s not forget that Ethiopia has exceptionally rich heritage, history, arts, artifacts, architecture, culture, music, cuisine and more… As you can see in the videos , our traditional products are commercially viable in other parts of the world …. I am optimistic that there will be more commitment from all of us to advance our culture through creative manufacturing and share them with the rest of the world!
